Most of my encounters to new technology is through the technology itself, i.e either through television adds or surfing on net.
they may also come through sms on cell or emails.
BUT mostly i get to know all the stuff from videos on you tube or on facebook

We encounter new technology and its rhetoric in advertisements that we often see on television or in magazines. Sometimes we are also introduced to new technology by our peers, friends and family. The media often hypes the newest technology saying that you need it and you will be somewhat of a reject if you do not obtain it; they do this through advertising, which seems to be the main way that I discover new technology.

There is a growing tendency that lots of ads appear on television today talking about Iphone4, and that is the way how I met it. In addition, more and more friends around me start using iphone4 and always talk about its advantages and updated functions. It is really compelling. In daily life, our feelings and knowledge of new technology are often affected and introduced by friends, parents, and ads from everywhere.

I have encountered new technology in a variety of settings. It seems like any public place is advertising the newest technology. This comes through the media. It is technically the media's job to inform the public on what is new and what is going on. The media can be advertisements in magazines or even commercials on television. They use rhetoric to not only catch the attention of it's viewers but to sometimes mislead or misinform them as well.

I think new technology is everywhere these days. You sort of have to be "tech-savvy" to keep up with everyone else anymore. And if you keep up with all the regular technology, it's pretty easy to get accustomed to new things that come out. The great thing about the internet is that it's so quick, so once a few people start to catch on, it isn't very hard to catch on yourself. Also, I think that as technology progresses, it gets easier on us to use and understand.

New technology can be experienced in numerous places. Walking into most stores or malls you will see the latest iPods, televisions, movies, blurays, etc. New technology is seen quite frequently, however the rhetoric of this new technology is experienced almost everywhere. You see television ads promoting new phones, newspapers with ads for the iPad, and broadcasts on the radio that aim to sell the latest technology as well.

I encounter new technology through advertisements through media such as television, the radio and magazines especially those with celebrities advocating the newly released item. Also, I am introduced to it mostly by my friends and family. They basically are the reason I would or would not buy the latest technology on the market.

I have encountered new technology through the media especially while watching favorite show on tv and a commercial comes across the screen advertising for the lastest new device. I also encounter it through my friends when they get something new that I have yet to purchase. No one wants to feel left out because they do not have the newest cell phone, for example

Lindsey brought up a good point about how she encounters new technology through their friends. Most people focus heavily on the introduction of technology through the media (like I did) but, because I am not very tech-savvy, the most common way I am introduced is through my friends.

The main method of how we encounter new technology is by the media network and through trends set by our local peers. While we are watching television and before movie previews at the theater, we are presented with multiple advertisements about the latest cell-phone advancements, cable companies, and online movie sites.
In high school, in the movie theaters, and usually when you meet up with a friend, their cell phones and texters are practically always visible. Whenever you visit a friend at their house, you probably take note of what type of game consoles they have, how large their television is, etc. We pay a lot of attention to technology to encounter it.

I never thought too much about how we are introduced to new technology online, as many of you have pointed out. Everyone gets online and it is a major way we are introduced to the newest technology.

As technology is linked to being introduced by the media, I have also noticed that it is introduced through our daily lives and peers. We may be walking to class and see many people with the same new "ipod" and we think to ourselves, I want that too. This being said, our peers have a big influence on how new technology becomes popular.

Advertisements on TV, on the magazines or on the transportations are the best way let us know the new technology. Because the new technology serves for us life and TV, magazines and all kinds of transportations are part of our life.
When we are watching the advertisements of new technology productions, we encounter the new technology and its rhetoric. The words which are used to describe the new tecnology products in advertisements are usually excellent and tasteful.

I think Ashleigh's right about the fact that all the companies and advertisers have to be at the top of their game in order to keep up with other advancements that are constantly being made. That's why new things are always coming out, because everyone wants to have the newest thing.

The idea of "keeping up with the Jones's" is practiced more in today's society than every before. In the media, Advertisements strive to portray their product as "need" based; everyone else has it, why don't you? Soon that same product is reintroduced to us in the hands of friends, teachers, neighbors, employers, etc. Is the ipad II that much more efficient than the orignal ipad? Do inventions that are superiorly useful exist?
